Strom is an attempt to solve several connected problems with one calm news loop. It brings RSS feeds together, supplies its operator with relevant news, retains selected material in a durable collection designed to become searchable, and turns the result into a public site that other people can enjoy too.
Four things, one current
- Integrate RSS feeds without turning them into another endless inbox.
- Deliver useful news in small, manageable batches.
- Retain what matters in an instance that can become a searchable archive.
- Publish a distinctive website where the selected news remains useful to other people.
The public Stream is one running instance of that idea. Strom itself is the software project behind it.
Hermes carries the signal
Strom uses Hermes for scheduling, messaging, and explicit access to models. A deterministic no-agent controller freezes one small batch and gives an isolated classifier only the bounded evidence it needs. The classifier has no tools or repository access; it returns statuses, short reasons, and controlled tags. Strom validates those decisions, commits the exact item set, and only then makes a review available to the operator.
The model proposes; it does not publish or operate the workflow. Narrow Toolkits and a transactional journal keep every transition deterministic and auditable, so a persuasive prompt, malformed feed entry, process crash, or late response cannot quietly become editorial authority.
Cards, choices, and Taste
Candidates arrive in compact private cards. The operator can keep something for later, publish it sooner, reject it, or mark a strong dislike. A selected item can receive the operator’s exact Blurb and image description before it reaches the public Site.
Those explicit choices create better, reviewed guidance over time without silently treating every tap as training data. The aim is a news supply that becomes more useful while remaining recognisably human.
Meet Ada Strom
Ada Strom is the project’s visual operator: part editor, part field engineer, always surrounded by old terminals and too many cables. The original 1990s-inspired sprite-art studies were created with Krea 2. Ada gives the machinery a face; she is not the model and she does not make the final editorial decisions.
Source, when it is ready
Strom is already a working system, but it is still being shaped around one real instance. The code may be published once its status is clear, the rough operational edges are gone, and it can offer genuine value to somebody other than its original operator. A repository link will appear here when that point is reached.
